ENERGY STAR® Manufactured Housing Program
If you are in the market to buy a manufactured home, be sure to look for one that is ENERGY STAR® certified. The ENERGY STAR label helps you identify new homes that are significantly more energy efficient than standard homes.
Benefits of owning an ENERGY STAR qualified manufactured home:
Lower ownership cost
Good for the environment
Energy saving features of an ENERGY STAR qualified home include:
Efficient heating and cooling equipment
High-efficiency water heaters
Properly installed insulation
Tight construction and sealed ducts
Appalachian Power is now offering a $1,300 rebate to producers of ENERGY STAR Manufactured Homes. The incentive is paid directly to the home manufacturer to offset a portion of the difference in price between a standard manufactured home and the ENERGY STAR manufactured home. This enables more buyers to qualify for a more efficient home. While the incentive goes to the manufacturer, the real beneficiary is the customer, who will reap thousands of dollars in energy savings over the life of the home. ENERGY STAR homes are more comfortable, require less maintenance and are likely to have higher resale value.
When buying your home, tell your manufactured home retailer that you want the benefits of Appalachian Power’s ENERGY STAR Manufactured Home Program.
