Home Performance Program

Residential Appalachian Power customers in Virginia can now have a Home Performance Assessment completed to receive a personalized report showing the projected energy and potential cost savings you could earn resulting from the implementation of options identified during the assessment.


The Home Performance Program offers additional rebates for the installation of major energy-saving improvements when they are recommended by a participating contractor. Only customers with electrically heated homes qualify for the additional energy saving rebates and the installation must be completed by a participating contractor. The rebate budget is limited and will be paid for all eligible and qualifying installed improvements, until such time as the program ends or the rebate budget is exhausted. Additional rebates are available for the following major improvements:

  • Attic and wall insulation
  • Air and duct sealing
  • Heat pumps replacing electric baseboard or electric furnaces

The Home Performance Assessment can help reduce costs while improving the efficiency of your home. Appalachian Power makes it easy to participate and customize the recommendations to maximize the benefits for you, the customer. The Home Performance Assessment provides you with:

  • An on-site assessment of your energy use
  • A report which contains cost-effective options and recommendations to help you reduce your energy use
  • Financial incentives that cover approved measures
  • Connections to qualified contractors who can perform energy efficiency upgrades
  • Installation of simple, low-cost energy saving measures including:
    • Compact Fluorescent (CFL) and Light Emitting Diode (LED) light bulbs
    • Efficient aerators and showerheads
    • Energy-saving measures for electric water heaters
    • Replacement air filters and more!

  • Find a participating contractor by clicking here or calling 855-422-5510
  • The participating contractor will perform a 2-3 hour assessment of your home, perform energy-saving improvements and provide personalized recommendations
  • Contractors may charge a minimal fee for their energy assessment walk-through, and cost will vary dependent upon contractors pricing and services provided
  • Mail in a rebate form showing the energy saving measures installed by the participating contractor
  • Rebate check is mailed to the customer or contractor within 60 days of approved submission. You can check on your rebate status by calling 855-422-5510
