Therefore, we are not accepting any new applications or reservation requests for this program until further notice. All applications received will placed in a waiting queue. Effective January 1st,
the C&I Lighting Program will accept new projects on a reservation-basis only. All new energy efficiency projects will need pre-approval in order to reserve funds and participate in the program. Once approved, projects must be completed within 90 days.

Updated Program Rules
  • The program will only accept projects that have not begun installation.
  • Pre-approval by the program manager or staff will be needed in order to participate in the program and reserve your funds, before the project is initiated.

Once accepted and approved, projects will be provided 90-days to complete the project. If work is not completed but progress is being made you can request an extension beyond the 90-day timeframe. These extension requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. However, we cannot guarantee rebate funding beyond the 90-day timeframe.

  • Rebate check paid within 4-6 weeks of final application’s verification and approval.
  • The limit per account is $50,000 per program year. The rebate amount may not exceed 30% of the project's total cost.
  • Installed projects are not eligible for a rebate. Pre-approval of all projects is required.
Please contact us directly with any questions, or download our Lighting Brochure. Thank you for your participation in the program.

Why spend more than you need to?

Did you know that lighting alone can contribute to almost 40 percent of your energy costs? As a business owner, you look for investments with an attractive rate of return. Energy-efficient lighting is such an investment.

Appalachian Power's Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Program offers cash rebates to retrofit or replace lighting throughout your facility with energy-efficient options that offer immediate energy savings and improve overall lighting quality.

  • Earn cash rebates and reduce investment payback time. Appalachian Power offers a cash rebate of $0.05 per kWh to help offset the cost of upgrades.
  • Lower electric bills. LEDs offer up to 50 percent savings in energy costs over standard HID lighting. Fluorescent retrofits can save up to 25 percent or more on energy use.
  • Reduced maintenance. New lamps and ballasts are rated to last thousands of hours longer than older technology, which reduces maintenance costs and time spend changing lamps and ballasts.
  • Improved working environment. Lighting upgrades increase occupant comfort and safety, which can lead to better workplace productivity and increased sales.
  • More retail sales. Let your facility and merchandise shine.

Lighting efficiency upgrades can dramatically impact your bottom line. Lighting rebates are available for:

  • LED bulbs
  • High T5 fluorescent lamps and fixtures
  • LED high bay, low bay, canopy and parking garage fixtures
  • Fixture retrofits with LEDs
  • 4-foot linear LED replacements
  • High performance T8s
  • LED exit signs
  • Refrigerated case lighting
  • Daylight dimming
  • Occupancy sensors
  • Exterior LEDs
