The Family That Saves Together

The Low Income Multifamily Program reduces energy consumption by educating residential customers about the energy- and money-saving benefits associated with energy efficiency in the home. The program targets opportunities that are proven to save energy, reduce consumption and protect the health and safety of occupants while helping to lower their electric bills.

Who is eligible for this program?

Those in individually metered multifamily dwellings within Appalachian Power’s Virginia territory.
A minimum of 66% (50% for any buildings under 5 units) of the dwelling units in the building should be occupied by a family unit whose household annual income does not exceed 80% of the Virginia State Median Income. Click here to view income limits by size of family unit.

Complete your application.

Complete the application and either return by email or mail to Community Housing Partners Energy Solutions at 550 Industrial Drive, Christiansburg, Virginia 24073.

Do you qualify?

Applications and eligibility are reviewed for approval within 1 to 2 weeks. If approved, a date will be scheduled for a preliminary home inspection.

Receive energy audit and work scope proposal.

A proposal of the energy saving measures to be completed will be developed and provided to you. At a later date, diagnostic testing will be performed for complete building envelope evaluation. Eligible upgrades may include electric water heating measures, HVAC repair, replacement and/or maintenance, insulation and air sealing and health and safety upgrades.

Approve proposal and schedule your installation date.

Once you approve the proposed work scope proposal, an installation date will be scheduled for energy saving measures.

Quality assurance.

Community Housing Partners Energy Solutions will schedule a final date to review the work completed, the overall process and satisfaction.
