Energy-Saving Tip of the Month: April

Are you doing a little Spring cleaning? Take some extra time to save energy.

Energy-Saving-Tip-of-the-Month-April

Clean up your energy budget

Vacuum your refrigerator coils. Dust buildup on coils causes the unit to run less efficiently. While you're at it, dust lightbulbs to get more light for your energy dollars.

More timely tips

1. Earth Day is April 22nd.

Celebrate by taking steps to live more sustainably - such as reusing, reducing and recycling.

2. National Arbor Day is celebrated on the last Friday in April.

Planting leafy trees on the south and west sides of your home can provide free, cooling shade for your home in summer.

3. Replace your old dehumidifier with an ENERGY STAR®-certified high-efficiency model.

It will help you keep your home dry for less.

Dig safely

April is National Safe Digging Month. If you're planning an outdoor digging project, call 811 before you start. Your local utility companies will visit your home and mark the location of any underground lines for free of charge. Knowing where lines are buried can help you avoid injury, unplanned outages and costly repairs.
